Barbara Ireland Walk 2021

SBGAL

 Hello SBGALS!

As you know from the emails sent out last week, this year’s Barbara Ireland Walk for Breast Cancer is being held virtually.  In fact, right now, today, we are in the virtual event window (February 1 - March 12) in which participants complete either the 1M, 5K, 5M, 10K or 15K or all five!  SBGAL has always supported this event and for good (great!) reasons:
One hundred percent  of the proceeds from the Barbara Ireland Walk and Run for Breast Cancer go directly towards research, genetic counseling, and supportive care programs for breast cancer patients at Ridley-Tree Cancer Center (our local cancer center where our community goes for care).

Even though SBGAL is on “pause,” our SBGAL Team for the BIWFBC will be safely** completing our walk next Saturday, March 6th.  This is a totally optional way to complete the virtual walk.  You can complete the virtual event on your own and that’s awesome, too.  But, if you need/want some camaraderie, let’s GO!!

SBGAL Team Walk to complete the BIWFBC
Date:  Saturday, March 6th
Time:  Arrive early enough so that you can be ready for an 8:00 a.m. departure
Where:  We’ll meet in the Baccara Resort’s Public Day Use Parking Lot (directions will be provided to participants) and head out for a beach walk (low tide is -0.2 at 11:00 a.m.).  You can walk any of the event distances from 1 mile to 15 kilometers (turn-around points will be identified on the map to be provided).
Thanks in advance for registering!

•Within each 4-member partner group and depending on beach conditions (width and congestion), either walk single file with a minimum of six feet between one another or where conditions allow, 2 members may walk side-by-side with six feet between one another with the other 2 members also walking side-by-side with six feet between one another and six feet between themselves and the first 2 members (aka 2x2).

RESTROOMS:  Restrooms are at the beach at Baccara and a porta-potty is at Coal Oil Point.
