The first time I had ever walked a breast cancer walk was with my dear girlfriend Leslie Mann. We decided to walk in the Barbara Ireland Walk for the Cure in Santa Barbara in 2009. It was the first year after Leslie's surgery, chemo and radiation from breast cancer. Leslie and I had never walked 10 miles in our life. We showed up and Leslie had a tee-shirt with names of all of her family and friends who had had breast cancer. It was an amazing day. We then walked the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in Santa Barbara in 2010 and New York City in 2011. I remember the first person I spoke to was a gentleman and I asked him who he was wallking for. He said a dear friend who had just passed away the day before from breast cancer. So Leslie and I started our walk in tears and hand in hand. What an inspiration those walks where with all of the men and women walking to help cure breast cancer. I was fortunate to have a breast cancer Survivor to walk those walks with. Regardless with all the toe and feet problems we had it was so much fun and I will treasure those walks forever. Unfortunately, my dearest girlfriend Leslie passed away with breast cancer on January 28, 2019. Leslie and I talked about walking this walk in 2020. So I want to give back to the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center who helped so much with Leslie and many more patients to come. I know the love and admiration I have for Leslie will help me during this walk. And for sure Leslie will be with us with her laughter and tears!!!
